Small photograph album measuring 10 x 7 inches with heavy paper pages and cover has 14 racehorse images laid in; nothing attached to the pages. The vintage images of racehorses, presumably British and other European, Including at least one Australian horse are period clippings from publications, with a few having lightly penciled notations at borders.
Horses include: Carbine, Bayardo, Pharos, Pretty Polly, Signorina, Swynford, Lemberg (2),Fairway, Abbots Trace, Mynora, Flamingo and Mr. Jinks. Also laid in are a few backing sheets and odd racing related clippings.
The item
came with a number of horse racing items that belonged to Walter S. Vosburgh, an original member of The Jockey Club, turf historian ( author of American Racing, 1866-1921 etc. ), official handicapper for various racing associations, including New York race tracks from 1894-1934 and for whom the Vosburgh Stakes at Belmont Park are named.
